What are the unique characteristics of industrial LCD screens?

Generally speaking, industrial-grade LCD screens are used in different working environments, which are much harsher than the general living environment. For example, there is dust in some workshops, and outdoor use may be exposed to wind, sun, rain, or sudden falls. Conditions outdoor such as extreme cold, high temperature, etc. may occur. It is precisely because of these special usage environments that the industrial-grade LCD display is strong and durable. Whether it is high or low temperature, whether it is exposed to the sun or rain,industrial-grade LCD screens can all work well.

We can analyze the characteristics of industrial LCD screens from the following aspects.

1.Reliability

Industrial LCD monitors require 24 hours, 365 days of uninterrupted work and power supply, and the environment in which industrial monitors are used is much harsher than TV monitors used at home, so they are required to be more stable, and at the same time, industrial monitors have various performance requirements. They are all higher than ordinary display screens, such as component voltage resistance, current, humidity, high and low temperature, etc. Moreover, the design directions are also different. For example, TVs will age after being powered on for 8 hours, while industrial monitors will only age after being powered on for 24 hours at high temperatures and high humidity.

Industrial display screens are mainly used in industrial automation, medical and military industries. The difference between them and ordinary display screens is that they generally adopt special shock-proof designs. Industrial-grade LCD screens can generally reach an operating temperature of -30~+80°C. Compared with consumer screens, they will be more stable and reliable when working in harsh environments.

2. Shell

The housing design of industrial-grade LCD monitors generally adopts an all-steel design. The panels are divided into different materials such as ordinary iron plates, stainless iron, stainless steel, aluminum panels, etc., and are specially designed to be dustproof and shockproof.

Ordinary consumer monitor casings are generally made of plastic casings. However, plastic casings do not have strong radiation suppression, weak anti-interference capabilities, and unstable signals that may cause interruptions.

3. Working temperature

Industrial-grade LCD screens generally have an operating temperature of -20 to 70 degrees. Some special industries have higher environmental requirements and need to use LCD screens with a wider temperature range (-40 to 85 degrees).

4. Contrast Ratio

Since most ordinary consumer displays are used in indoor environments, the brightness is about 250~300cd/m2 (nits), and LCDs with a diagonal size of 15 inches are the most commonly used. However, displays with this brightness level It cannot meet the requirements when used in an industrial environment. This is because the ambient light will be stronger and its brightness can easily exceed the brightness of the LCD backlight.

Moreover, touch screens are often used in industrial environments, which can also reduce the brightness of the display and make it look darker. In common medical, industrial and public phone booth applications, the required brightness must reach at least 450 cd/m2.

In general, industrial LCD screens have better durability, wider operating temperature, and display brightness and contrast ratio that are much greater than ordinary LCD screens.
