How to avoid mura issues on cold-bent curved LCD monitor?

Curved LCD panels deliver immersive visual experience for commercial signage, industrial equipment and exhibition applications. Nevertheless, cold-bending manufacturing introduces internal mechanical stress, which frequently triggers mura (uneven brightness and cloudy patches), impairing display uniformity. We have developed systematic technical solutions to effectively mitigate such visual defects.

First, COA (Color Filter On Array) panel architecture is recommended. Conventional non-COA panels adopt separate TFT and CF glass substrates; minor displacement between two glass layers after bending leads to color shift and mura. By integrating color filter layers directly onto the TFT substrate, COA structure eliminates optical non-uniformity caused by substrate misalignment.

Second, thin-substrate glass technology reduces bending stress. Original 0.5mm glass generates substantial residual stress after cold forming. Thinning the substrate to 0.3mm greatly lowers internal stress and suppresses stress-induced clouding.

We provide four mature configuration combinations for diversified project requirements:

1. Non-COA + 0.5mm original glass: cost-effective entry solution with relatively higher mura risk.

2. Non-COA + 0.3mm thinned glass: balanced compromise between budget and visual performance.

3. COA + 0.5mm original glass: preferred solution for vibration-prone industrial equipment. It retains superior shock resistance while significantly improving picture uniformity.

4. COA + 0.3mm thinned glass: premium configuration with optimum brightness consistency; ideal for high-end projects with strict visual standards.

Beyond panel selection, standardized cold-bending parameter control and high-low temperature aging screening are enforced during production to release residual stress and pre-filter potential mura failures.
