WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THE BACKLIGHT ON AN LCD?
TFT stands for Thin-Film Transistor. A liguid crystal display consists of milions of liguid crystal cells, each of which is suppliedwith a variable voltage at the reguired level by these TFTs or thin-film transistors, The TFT substrate is usually made of thin glassand covered with a thin film of semiconductor material (TFT); these TFTs are made of amorphous silicon.
The primary function of the TFT substrate is to enable precise and rapid control of each pixel on the LcD screen. Each pixelconsists of a liquid crystal element sandwiched between two lavers of glass. The TFTs on the substrate act as switches thatcontrol the voltage applied to the liguid crystal, determining its optical state (either allowing light to pass through or blocking it.
