Technological Development of Surface Capacitive Touch Screens
Leave a message
The development of surface capacitive touch screen technology has gone through several important stages and has gradually become one of the mainstream technologies. The following is a detailed introduction to its development history and application areas.
Development History
Early Stage: The earliest touch screen technology was resistive touch screen, which could be operated with a stylus, but had low accuracy. In 1997, Motorola's PalmPilot handheld computer adopted a resistive touch screen.
The Rise of Surface Capacitive Touch Screens: Surface capacitive touch screens (SCT) have gradually become popular in large-scale outdoor applications, such as public information platforms (POI) and public service platforms (POS).
Technical Improvement: With the advancement of technology, the manufacturing cost of surface capacitive touch screens has gradually decreased, and they have begun to be used in portable products such as PDAs and GPS.
Working principle
The working principle of surface capacitive touch screen is based on the current induction of the human body. It uses a four-layer composite glass screen, with a layer of ITO (nano indium tin metal oxide) on the inner surface and the interlayer, and the outermost layer is a protective layer. When the user touches the screen, the human body's electric field forms a coupling capacitor with the screen surface, and the finger absorbs part of the current from the contact point. The current is proportional to the distance from the finger to the four corner electrodes, thereby determining the touch position.
Applications
Surface capacitive touch screens are widely used in the following fields:
Intelligent car: In car navigation and entertainment systems, surface capacitive touch screens provide drivers and passengers with convenient operation experience and pleasing visual experience by integrating multiple intelligent functions.
Medical equipment: In medical equipment that requires high-precision operation, small touch screen has become an important tool for equipment operators to monitor and control complex process flows with their stable performance and reliable quality.
Smart home: In smart home devices, surface capacitive touch screens can be used as the display screen of smart home controllers to intuitively display the status of home devices, facilitate users to remotely control and adjust, and improve user experience and interactivity.
Since 2012, Head Sun has been producing capacitive touch screens with G+G and G+F+F structures, mainly using yellow light technology, with an annual output of 1 million pieces and 14 years of experience. As a well-known LCM display supplier in China, we have vertically integrated production capabilities and can provide customers with a full set of touch technology application solutions, including product design, R&D to TP and LCD mass production, providing customers with one-stop service.
