Key selection criteria for specialized bar-type displays in the retail industry

I. First, determine the size and aspect ratio:
• The most common sizes are: 24-inch (1920×360 / 1920×480).
• Sizes suitable for smaller shelves or end-caps include: 18.5-inch and 21.5-inch bar-type displays.
• Shelf clearance height can also dictate which sizes to select:
Shelf clearance (net height) of 10–12 cm → Screen height ≤ 10 cm
Shelf clearance (net height) of 12–15 cm → Screen height of 12–14 cm
When offering options, suppliers typically specify the maximum dimensions of the screen, allowing you to determine the exact screen height.
The guiding principle for selection is: Do not obstruct merchandise, do not create head-bumping hazards, and do not crush or damage products.
II. Second, screen brightness is one of the core factors to consider for retail shelving displays.
Typically, for standard indoor environments, a brightness of ≥ 350 cd/m² is recommended; for areas near windows or under strong lighting, ≥ 500 cd/m² is advisable. Screens with a brightness below 300 cd/m² are generally illegible and should be immediately ruled out.
III. Other considerations relate to display performance and image quality:
• Resolution priority: 1920×360 / 1920×480.
• Viewing Angle: ≥ 170°/170°, ensuring that prices remain clearly visible even when viewed from the side.
• Contrast Ratio: ≥ 3000:1, resulting in sharper and more legible text.
IV. The mounting structure is often an overlooked aspect, yet it requires careful consideration. Two types are highly recommended:
• Front-Mount Style: Offers the fastest installation and is compatible with the vast majority of shelving units.
• Embedded Style: Provides a sleek, high-end aesthetic, making it ideal for cosmetics, boutique items, or tobacco and liquor sections.
Additionally, features such as a slim profile, narrow bezels, rounded corners, and impact resistance are distinct advantages.
V. Power supply and a stable network connection are also crucial.
• Power Supply: Typically utilizes a centralized 12V DC power system rather than individual power plugs for each screen.
• Network Connectivity: Varies by situation; small shops can utilize Wi-Fi directly, whereas larger venues (with 50+ screens) are better served by selecting models equipped with an RJ45 Ethernet port for greater stability.
The screens should also support automatic power-on and display recovery following a power outage. VI. Regarding Systems and Software: We recommend prioritizing Android-based all-in-one units for their hassle-free operation and stability. Select software that supports centralized backend publishing, remote price adjustments via mobile or PC, batch price list imports, scheduled power on/off, and scheduled promotional campaigns.
