Detailed Parameters of Commercial Stretch Bar LCD: Resolution, Brightness and System Selection

Driven by new retail, intelligent transportation and digital signage, stretch bar LCD screens/Stretch Bar LCD Monitors/stretch bar LCD displays (all called as "Stretch bar LCD") are spreading at an astonishing rate. However, due to their deviation from the traditional 16:9 screen ratio, the special display technical parameters of these stretch bar screens often leave many first-time purchasing managers and project integrators at a loss.

1. How to calculate the non-standard resolution?

2. Is higher brightness always better?

3. Which system is more suitable for long bar screens, Android or Windows?

This article provides detailed explanations of the core technical parameters of stretch bar screens, helping you avoid pitfalls in project selection.

I. Resolution and Special Display Ratio (Resolution Aspect Ratio)

The resolution of traditional displays is usually 1920*1080 or 3840*2160. However, stretch bar screens are non-standard products obtained by precise laser cutting of the original large screens. Therefore, their resolution presents a unique narrow and long feature.

Our factory Head Sun adopts the industry-leading FOG factory wafer cutting process. The resolution of our mainstream shelf screens and commercial long bar screens usually takes the following typical forms:

A.Ultra-narrow screen ratio (e.g. 16:1.3 or 16:1.5):

The resolution is mostly 1920 * 158, 2880 * 158 or 3840 * 120. These parameters extremely test the driving capability of the liquid crystal molecules, and are suitable for embedding on the edge of standard shelf layers in convenience stores and supermarkets.

B.Medium-width screen ratio (e.g. 16:3 or 16:4):

The resolution is mostly 1920 * 360 or 1920 * 540. These screens are mostly used for electronic menu boards above the cashier counter or elevator media guidance.

Purchase selection rule:

When creating UI interfaces and advertising monetization videos, UI designers must strictly design at one-to-one pixel level based on the actual physical resolution of the long bar screen. Otherwise, the picture will appear stretched, distorted or have black borders on both sides.

II. Screen brightness and photoelectric parameters (Brightness AG Treatment)

The complexity of commercial environments (such as strong heat accumulation from strong light and direct light) determines that the brightness parameters of stretched bar screens must be far higher than those of home displays.

A.700 - 1000 nits (Ultra-high brightness):

Suitable for top lights in supermarkets, new retail stores, etc., where the environment light is intense. Our industrial-grade high-brightness bar screens can reach 1000 nits, ensuring that the picture does not reflect or turn white under direct strong light, and accurately reproducing the bright colors of the products.

B.350 - 500 nits (Standard commercial brightness):

Suitable for indoor public spaces with relatively soft light such as hospitals, banks, and subway guidance.

C.AG anti-glare matte hardening (Anti-Glare):

This is an easily overlooked technical parameter. The surface of high-quality bar screens must undergo AG matte treatment, converting mirror reflection into diffuse reflection, thereby ensuring that consumers can clearly see the screen content from an ultra-wide viewing angle of 178°.

III. Driving motherboard and operating system ecosystem (OS Hardware Platform)

The hardware parameters of the bar screen not only depend on the external panel, but also on the internal "brain" - the driving motherboard and system. Currently, the market is mainly divided into two system camps:

1. Android intelligent system (mainly recommended)

A. Core parameters:

Usually equipped with four-core/eight-core industrial-grade chips (such as Rockchip series), with Android 11.0 and above system as the standard.

Why choose it:

Android system has extremely high openness, low power consumption, and small heat generation, and 90% of the smart retail CMS publishing systems on the market are developed based on Android. It can perfectly support multi-screen seamless linkage, cloud-based timed price adjustment, remote screen control, and take-and-activate linkage, and is the absolute first choice for new retail shelf screens.

2. Windows system (specific scenarios)

A. Core parameters:

Equipped with Intel Core/Celeron series x86 architecture processors.

B. Why choose it:

Suitable for scenarios that require connecting to large local area networks, running complex 3D rendering software or specific industrial control software (such as airport large traffic display systems, large bank data terminals).
